Tell Congress: Children Do Not Have to Suffer or Die

In the next 24 hours, almost 30,000 children under age 5 will die from preventable or treatable diseases – that's over 10 million lives lost each year. The four major killers of these children are diarrhea, pneumonia, malaria and measles. Malnutrition contributes to more than half of these deaths.

These children do not have to suffer or die. Simple and affordable tools – vitamins, vaccines, antibiotics – exist to save them. Tell Congress to pass the CHILD Act and reaffirm our commitment to child survival around the world.
Dear Senators / Representative:

A largely invisible tragedy happens every day as nearly 30,000 children die from preventable or treatable diseases such as diarrhea, pneumonia, and measles -- that's nearly over 10 million each year. I strongly urge you to support the CHILD Act to address the death and illness of children in the world's poorest countries.

U.S. leadership has made an enormous contribution in saving children's lives over the past two decades, but funding for these programs has remained stagnant in recent years, while these life-saving programs in many countries have actually lost ground.

Effective and affordable tools exist that could prevent the deaths of millions of children each year. Immunization, antibiotics, clean drinking water and vitamin supplements are a few of the simple interventions that we know can save lives.

Please contact Senator Dodd or Representative McCollum to co-sponsor the CHILD Act, and help ensure that the tools we have available are put to use improving the health of children and their families. I look forward to your response on this important issue.

Sincerely,
